Thursday September 28 saw the end of the site preparations. Jim from Drew Corp tidied up the foundation site leaving a very clear footprint for the new house.
The foundation is now ready to receive the old house.
Foundation walls and the basement concrete slab will be poured AFTER the house is put into place on cribs. Forms will be fitted out on the foundation footings and the walls built UP to meet the house sills. After 218 years, the house is no longer perfectly square.
The house itself has now been raised well above the road recently built to travel 500 feet to the new foundation.
The house is sitting on wooden cribs set below 6 x 40′ steel I beams and 2 x 50′ steel I beams. Pneumatic jacks have been in place to do the raising.
In preparation for the unified hydraulic dolly system from Payne Building Services to arrive on October 9, the house will first be moved off its current footprint onto the road in the direction of travel.
We are told this will happen Friday September 29 ! A time lapse camera has been set to record the whole day’s activities.
