Excavation : Foundation dug!
With our decision to move the farmhouse to a new location came the obligation to dig a new foundation. We waited and waited for the ground to dry, and then, when we were away for two days visiting friends, the deed was done.
Not only did the excavators dig the hole and “drop stone” into the bottom outlining the basement floor, they graded and smoothed the earth around the site to give us a more level front yard and less of a slope on the western side of the house. In addition to the elaborate French drain they buried, the plan is to add three drains that will collect surface water coming down the hill on the south side.
We’re happy to see the French drains working and the water abating…
…and all these beautiful boulders unearthed to use for retaining walls.

Glad to see a human in that video to get the scale of what is happening! So extensive!
